Beyond one window
The Hub
Every session in one window. The one you choose runs at the centre in its own terminal, Claude Code itself; beside it, its project's files, a file or a shell. Projects and LampMaster are on the left.
⌘⇧L goes one step deeper each time: the column, the panel, then the Hub. It is one dark window in four columns. Drag an edge to widen one; the icons at the top show and hide them. The panel's foot has a Hub button, and the ⋯ menu and the lamp's menu say Open the Hub.
- Sessions: the panel's rows, the same ones in your order, with their lamps, rings and times. LampMaster and your projects sit above them.
- The session you choose, in its own terminal: Claude Code itself, as in any terminal.
/lists its commands,/modeland Shift-Tab change the model and the mode, Esc stops a turn, a permission is answered where it is asked, and an image pastes with Ctrl-V. Drop a file on it and its path is typed; drag one from the tree and it is cited as@path. On a session on another machine a dropped file is copied into the project's attachments there and cited, since a path of this Mac means nothing over there. Drag a session's row from the column into the terminal, and it is named there as[session «name» 1a2b3c4d]. The session in the terminal can then ask that one questions withask_session, answered from the other's conversation without interrupting it: «compare notes with this session and find a solution». Only a session you dragged in can be asked, and only by the one you dragged it into. - The project's files: the tree of the session's folder, coloured by what the session read, wrote and committed, with git's letters and a search.
- A file or a shell: the file you open, code highlighted with its line numbers or Markdown as a preview, in tabs, read again when the session changes it; or a shell in the project's folder, on this Mac or over ssh on another machine.
Which sessions have a terminal
A session started in tmux, here or on another machine, and a background session of this Mac open in their own terminal. The Hub keeps the last four you chose attached, so going back to one is instant. Closing the Hub leaves every session running.
A session in VS Code's panel or in the Claude app is read from its transcript. Move to LampBoard… ends its VS Code process between turns and takes the conversation up in tmux on this Mac, with everything it remembers. From then on it opens in its own terminal. A conversation is never written by two processes at once.
The button at the top right puts the terminal in a window of its own, the same one; Bring it here puts it back.
Projects
+ next to Projects attaches a folder, on this Mac or on a machine in Settings › Other Macs. On another machine, Browse… walks that machine's folders over ssh, from its home folder, and offers the folders its sessions worked in. An attached folder stays in the list with or without a session. The folders your sessions are in follow it in the list. Click a project to:
- start a new session in tmux, which opens at once in its terminal;
- resume a past conversation, chosen from its past ones. A conversation open somewhere now is not offered: two writers would fork it.
A project starts its sessions in tmux only, here or on its machine.
New session (⌘N) starts in tmux the same way. To start sessions in tmux on this Mac, tmux must be installed (brew install tmux).
LampMaster
LampMaster's row opens its own conversation, a Claude Code session in its own terminal: see LampMaster.
